CNADM’s 2011 Lifetime & Artistic Achievement Awards

This summer, The Chicago National Association of Dance Masters will host a very special awards banquet on Thursday, July 21, as tap dancing legend Arthur Duncan will be on hand to accept a Lifetime Achievement Award. He will join the ranks of an elite list of only three individuals who have received this honor in our 100 year history: Gerald Arpino, Maria Tallchief, and Edward Villella. The banquet will be held in conjunction with the Summer Dance Workshops from July 18-25, at the Doubletree Chicago/Oak Brook hotel in Oak Brook, IL.

Brazil Loses Flavio Salles

On May 25, 2011 in Rio de Janeiro, dancer and choreographer Flavio Salles died a victim of stomach cancer. His Ipanema Academy of Tap developed dancers such as Claudia Raia, Murtinho Rosa Maria, Maria Clara Gueiros, George Suma , Marize Duarteamong and others. Flavio leaves a special legacy to all his students dying right on International Tap Dance Day.
